12 Weeks

How far along: 12 weeks
Weight gain: No weight gain since our last appt 4 weeks ago, surprising because I feel like I'm definitely eating enough to gain weight.
How big is baby: Plum
Maternity clothes: Jeans are too tight, I bought the Bella Band which is actually pretty comfy so I can still use my jeans even though they don't zip/button up anymore. Thankfully, I wear scrubs to work instead of business clothes.
Sleep: Sleeping better now, still getting up during the night but able to fall asleep okay.
Best moment this week: We had a high-resolution U/S at Maternal Fetal Medicine for the Nuchal Transparency Screening. Baby no longer looks like a gummy bear, now looks like a baby, big head with arms and legs moving around. Baby was so cute, flopping around and moving like crazy, very active one, made me laugh! The doctor said the baby's neck was "textbook" perfect! They even took pictures because baby photographed so well and they needed photos for their annual review. At our midwife appt we were also able to hear baby's heartbeat (148-150's), such a beautiful sound!
Movement: None
Food Cravings:  Still craving lots of carbs! Red Robin french fries with honey mustard, one of my faves even before being pregnant.
Pregnancy Symptoms: Nausea, extreme fatigue (even after sleeping 10-12 hours, ugh)
Belly button in or out: Innie
What I miss: Feeling energized and well-rested
What I'm looking forward to: Seeing baby on the U/S again, so amazing!

Nguyen Family Growing

Anh Tuyen & Chi Kim (Hung's older brother & sister-in-law) found out the other day that they will be having a baby girl in August! Jacob is going to be a big brother! We are so excited for them ☺

This is definitely the year for babies in our family! Toan & Nadia (cousin) will be having another baby girl sometime near the end of next month and Anh Hai & Chi Holly just found out that they will be expecting their first baby mid-November! We are so happy and excited for everyone!

9 Weeks

How far along: 9 weeks
Weight gain: None but I feel massively bloated, abd muscles are definitely loosening because my tummy is definitely bigger despite no weight gain on the scale
How big is baby: Razzie Raspberry
Maternity clothes: In the near future, things are getting pretty snug
Sleep: Having trouble falling to sleep and waking up frequently during the night, peeing every 2 hours! My thoughts are totally preoccupied and centered around baby, all the time!
Best moment this week: We had our first appointment at the Center for Women's Health at Evergreen with the midwife (Shana), she was super nice! There are about 5 midwives and 7 OBGYNs at this clinic who all work collaboratively which is nice and the birth will be at Evergreen Hospital. At this first appointment, they asked us a ton of questions and took blood for testing. She brought in the portable U/S machine and we were able to see baby (she said there was only one in there, phew!). Baby looked like a gummy bear, very cute. Hung saw the beating heart, I didn't have my glasses on so I pretended like I could see it too but I was squinting so hard I couldn't be sure LOL. It was kind of like that episode from friends with Ross & Rachel where she can't see the baby in the ultrasound.
We weren't able to hear the heartbeat because baby was hiding behind my belly button so the doppler was only able to pick up my abd aortic pulse. It was reassuring though that hubbie saw the "little beacon" and he was so amazed and in awe, it was so sweet and heartwarming :)
Movement: None
Food Cravings: Carbs, carbs and more carbs! Seems to be the only thing that settles my stomach and helps the nausea. Loving the cheddar bay biscuits at Red Lobster, Olive Garden bread sticks, pizza and pasta too. Like I said, CARBS! LOL
Pregnancy Symptoms: Nausea (morning and evening, with emesis ugh), tender boobs, insomnia (and can't take anything for it!), mild abd cramping (guessing it's round ligament stretching)
Belly button in or out: Innie
What I miss: Sushi, rare steak, my morning tea
What I'm looking forward to: Our next appointment at 12-weeks, our midwife said that the baby will look a lot different! Time is still going slow as molasses, people say this gets better...tick tock tick tock
Weekly Wisdom: Bring glasses to doctor's appointments, I'm at that age LOL

6 Weeks

How far along: 6 weeks
Weight gain: I have definitely gained quite a bit of weight since our wedding in August, I estimate that since then I have gained 15 lbs but I don't think I've really gained anything in the past 6 weeks. I like to think that I "pre-loaded" my baby weight ;)
How big is baby: Sweet pea, can't believe that only 2 weeks ago it was only a poppyseed and then last week an appleseed! We've been using the fruit sizes as the nickname for the baby so far hehe.
Maternity clothes: No
Sleep: Still sleeping fine
Best moment this week: We decided to tell our immediate family and close friends, we were going to wait until after the first trimester but it was so hard to keep the happy news to ourselves. Most importantly though, we wanted everyone to pray for baby and a healthy pregnancy.
Movement: Nadda
Food Cravings: Nothing specific, just have been really hungry lately. Have to make sure to pack plenty of snacks for work.
Belly button in or out: Still an innie :)
What I miss: I especially miss sushi and cocktails because this week was Lily's bachelorette party at Umi Sake House, I only lasted until 10pm and then Hung came to pick me up while the rest of the ladies danced the night away.
What I'm looking forward to: Our first appointment with the midwife, time is going SOOOOOOOO SLOWWWWWWWWW right now, I guess that's normal others tell me...
Weekly Wisdom: At church there was a table out in the Narthex with a sign-up sheet for expectant mothers, these women pray together daily/weekly for the pregnant mothers and growing babies. It is comforting to know there are so many people praying, Hung and I truly believe there is power in this.

Finding Out We Were Pregnant!

Where were you: at work
Who did you tell first: texted my husband Hung "Kyle" and Randi "Mang", called Phuongy in Florida
How far along: 4 weeks, thought it might be too early to tell but decided to test anyways because Mang wanted to drink vino that weekend
Reaction: overjoyed, thankful, excited!

Special thanks to Ben & Stephanie who suggested trying the ovulation predictor kit :)
